Patricia Wade, born in 1923, was the daughter of Pearl (Waterson) Wade whom I featured in this post. This photograph was found with family photos that belonged to Fern (Waterson) Hardenburg.
Patricia married Dave Robertson on August 30, 1946. Her beau was newly discharged from the Canadian Army after serving four years during WWII. I suspect this may be an engagement photo of the young couple.
Pat worked as a nurse and was the first secretary of Kersley Women’s Institute (WI.) The WI is focused on issues such as women’s education, health, and housing.
I was thrilled to find that Pat’s obituary provided a glimpse into her personal life that is often lost. She enjoyed square dancing, quilting, knitting, crochet, gardening, camping, and fishing. We even know she had a little dog that she took for walks. If only all death notices were this detailed. After all, isn’t it these little things we wish we knew about our ancestors?
Although my focus for this post is Pat I would be amiss not to include her husband’s obituary as she spent 61 years with this guy! Dave wasn’t just a square dancer, he taught barn dancing as well and I bet Pat was proud to be his ‘do si do darling.’
I’ve tagged all posts about this family with the Waterson name so if you’re interested in catching up and viewing all posts about the found photos from his family, please type Waterson in the search box (the small magnifying glass symbol) at the top of this page.
